When it comes to putting on any type of large gathering, there is always the question of how to reduce the amount of waste that is generated.  Organicology's team of event coordinators has worked closely with the hotel staff, our decorators and you, the participants, to make sure that we stay mindful in using as few of our precious resources as possible for this event.

1. •Conference Center and Hotel Selection:  We have selected to hold this event at the Double Tree, Lloyd Center, Oregon's first Green Seal Certified hotel and conference center.  Learn more about how they help conserve the environment.  One of the added benefits of having the conference at this location is the fact that it is located  on the MAX line so that attendees, presenters and others traveling from the airport or Portland area can conserve energy in their travel to this destination.
   

2. •All event printed material printed on recycled paper using non-toxic inks.
   

3. •Use of real silverware, glasses, mugs.
   

4. •Cloth linens and napkins used throughout.
   

5. •Composting and donating of any food leftovers.
   

6. •Decoration items that already exist, or will be created for us and exist for others to use in the future. 
   

7. •We will use many items multiple times in different parts of the event, reusing from within!
   

8. •Coffee & water stations with glassware to eliminate the need for paper or plastic.
   

9. •Recycling stations located throughout.
   

10. •Website hosting using energy efficient carbon neutral servers
    

In all that we do to put on this fabulous event, the sustainability of the environment, its attendees and all involved is considered in all decisions that are being made. If you have further ideas on how we can make this event more sustainable please let us know, we are open to all ideas.
